Thoughts on going into energy tax credit from transactional tax? Seems like a whole different world…

The energy tax space is also transactional so you will have a good chance at tapping into your experience but it will get boring pretty quick working just on energy credits. There are some transaction tax practices that are also involved in credit transactions but to silo yourself, especially if you want to be strategic about your next move, will become old pretty quick. Trust me.

I need things to keep them from going crazy, but want it to be purposeful also. Any suggestion?

Synechron technologies Synechron Inc. Did synechron call to office ?

I have heard from friends working in different companies about Synechron. Employees working hours are very closely monitored at Synechron.

Employees have to spend 9 hours inside Office rather than Synechron premise.

Also, employees have some app installed in their virtual machines which tracks the duration for which they were logged in.

Is this true?Wanted to confirm from someone who are working with Synechron.

Additional Posts in Tax Law

For anyone who practices tax lit in the US Tax Court, what’s your experience with the independent office of appeals? They don’t seem quite that “independent” to me and so far, I’ve only had one appeals officer who seemed knowledgeable and nice. It’s been a real headache. Interested to hear other people’s experience.

When the IRS (e.g., a RO/AO/Examiner) calls or writes a letter… How do you verify that it’s really the IRS and not a scam? I’m new to tax law and I’m worried that I’m going to respond to/answer a scam and give away client info (or my own tax preparer info). I don’t think my worry is unfounded due to the tremendous amount of tax/IRS scam out there but it would be nice to hear from some of y’all so that I’m not so worried about it…

Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations. Like, sure, the market is there but no authority really blessed it (other than some Cravath partner’s article in Tax Notes in 2013). If we are talking asset class that isn’t really like marketable securities but might be able to treat it similarly solely by virtue of, say, valuation on a quarterly basis (contd)

Transitioning from com. lit into tax controversy?

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. I now practice commercial lit but would welcome the opportunity to eventually transition into tax controversy (which I wasn’t able to do before). Does my commercial litigation “break” hurt my prospect? How long can I stay in com lit without hurting my chances even more?
