Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I’ve been applying but these jobs aren’t even calling back. Just the generic email that they received my application. I’ve even tried connecting with people from the companies in LinkedIn.
At work, do you present yourself in person like you did on this forum? What's your resume look like, do you job hop every two years, and they're just waiting you out? Because showing up doesn't equal a pay raise. Feeling it when you're out means you work for a thinly staffed company, not that you're a go to performer. Do you contribute at meetings? Are you presenting ideas for improvements? Your post sounds like you want a sounding board to complain to, not a reality check of suggestions. Rather than request the raise, ask to see the comp ratio for the position you're in and schedule a meeting to ask what you need to do to get the raise. We all have blind spots, and asking will remove yours so you can work to improve on what your manager see's as your challenges. Show the blind spots have become strengths, then revisit the raise.
Thanks for the insight. I’ll definitely try what you’re saying. I did had the idea to ask to take on more responsibility to warrant a raise. Job hopping no, my resume is decent (won’t say it’s the best ever) lots of leadership roles at different levels. I took responsibility of the daily meetings/planning calls for the last year and a half. I did state I have room to improve. It’s not complaining when they add more responsibilities on the initial contract and company wide people are raising concerns about raises over the last 5+ years. Some even going on year 10 without any raise.
Lastly I’m grateful to even have the job which is why I’m still here. I’d prefer to stay than go somewhere else.
Sounds familiar! If they can’t appreciate you, maybe it’s time to move on!
Hop. It’s always the answer, sadly.
