To those in-house, we are evaluating Streamline AI, LawVu and Checkbox for legal intake. Does anyone have experience using these and what is your review as a user?

they all sound like low end GPT wrappers, judging by the low effort, uninspired names

I haven’t heard of the other two, but I’m using Streamline for sales intake. Happy to answer questions!

Using LawVu for intake and matter management. 3-person legal department supporting 2,000+ employees. Love it so far.

Onboarding gets an A+. Weekly meeting with the onboarding coordinator, who gave us homework in between to ensure we stayed on target for launch. We recorded a live business user training and made it available to watch on-demand in our LMS. Note: our coordinator apparently moved to another SaaS company recently, so I can’t speak for experience with other coordinators.

Several months post-launch I’d give it an A- in real-world use. Works great for internal legal team project management. Some limitations on the business user side (“free” users - no seat license fee for those): most notably they can’t add other business users to a matter (we have to do that for them)

Change management has gone well. Most people have switched to the portal for matter submission after a reminder or two. For those who refuse or don’t understand how, the Outlook add-in makes it easy enough to create a matter from their email.

They’re supposed to be launching a bunch of new AI-assisted features (“Legal OS” branding) soon. No idea which will be included for free and which will be an added charge. Based on other SaaS experience I’m guessing mostly an added charge, but we’ll see.

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

Building: full service, door man building with elevators and laundry. The building gym is also open using an online appointment system.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. One EVP (not the GC) in particular has been aggressively texting/calling me on fridays. How Do I tactfully respond? My out-of-office email is not enough of a hint...

Considering taking a position with a small-cap in the US trying to build their legal department. The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe. How reasonable is it to ask for a bump in title - Senior counsel or Head of Legal, US? If it matters, I am a 6th year and have been told that I will be expected to hire a junior or paralegal as we build up.

If you practice collections in-house, what do you earn and do you receive a bonus?

I have practiced for five years and make $121k as an employee of a financial services company. As the only attorney, I oversee all statewide collections efforts, from demand letter to garnishment, with a case volume of nearly 7k new cases per year, of which the majority I end up litigating. Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?
