To what extent do Auditors get capped at an experience level?

I work in a large listed business, managing a large team who have lots of senior exposure. They have development areas ofc but are strong Auditors.

The HoIA told me they didn't think any of my team will ever be IA Mgrs, and that they are passive. I previously spent a good few years at Big 4 so always thought that if someone decided to build up the skills etc, made their ambition known they would get there.

This is the same as big 4 though. Unless you become a manager and eventually a partner you will get stuck.

It's easy to make it to manager if you apply yourself. To get beyond manager requires playing the game just like PA.

Totally. Wish some taught me before I learned it a hard way. Smh.

I don't know. Being an auditor in the B4 did not cap me at an experience level.

Often it is easier to see leadership in people outside the organization. Rather than promoting within the department they go outside. Either hiring from another organization or brining in someone from another department to be trained.

This is why many IA departments move people out to get broader business experience.

Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

Any recommendations on where to invest 10k? I have about 15k in stocks but I don’t think I’ve done a great job picking stocks. Also for people making 150k+ how do you budget your money monthly?
