He's not as racist, dangerous, homophobic as radical Islam...it's a holy war. You may not believe it now and you may not believe it in 10 years but I guarantee you that at some point you are gonna realize what is happening. Is he a douche? Absolutely but these people are religious fanatics and they will not stop. Was 9/11 not bad enough? What happens when they get their hands on a nuke? Or chemical weapon and use it on our cities? What happens then? We just make a bunch of excuses? This is about western ideals and the continuation of society. Too many people have sacrificed their life to just absolve our sovereignty in the name of hurt feelings.
@Barclays 1. "...threatened by the bigotry, anger, and intolerance". You mean exactly what a large number of followers of Islam subscribe to? It makes me laugh when defenders of lgbt and women's rights defend people who stand for the exact opposite of those ideals. Sometimes I feel like Americans take democracy for granted. It's a privilege, not a right, to be living here as an immigrant from a country that has rampant corruption and a dictatorship. I would not like to see people who believe in violent oppression come and undermine the core values that make this country great.
@analyst I hear what you are saying about intolerance in Islam and I struggle with that. Bill Maher consistently makes the same point. I can't defend Islamic intolerance but also won't be fooled by people who use those views to justify barring Muslims from our country.
I don't understand your implication that I'm taking democracy for granted. I don't want people who believe in violent oppression to have power in this country either. I also don't want a government that justifies religious persecution with claims of safety. I know both of those outcomes are wrong, and we are currently faced with a real threat of persecution rather than a theoretical future threat.
War? This is not a war. It's the fact that anyone can decide they need an assault rifle to kill people they don't like. Let's stop pretending murders go down this "radicalization" path, they're just as likely to get pissed and start shooting.
@MS1 using WW2, I think most people consider the Japanese internment camps a black spot in our history. The objections to mass surveillance / shutting out Muslims stems from the same issue. I agree with you that we should be careful about who we let in.
Internment camps are a black spot just like nuking Japan is...it was a necessary evil at the time. Let's be clear here, the Jews did absolutely nothing to deserve what happened during the holocaust(no one does). But to deny that millions and millions of Islamists think they are in a holy war is just plain ignorant. If Islam were a country they would have been wiped off the map after 9/11, they are advancing their cause because they are protected by the fact that they are a religion and they know it. Again it all goes back to what do you think happens when they get a dirty bomb or a real nuke(which they inevitably will) and set it off? That's playing with Armageddon. It's time to speak clearly about what's going on, feelings be damned.
@barclays1 We all feel this deep sense of righteousness when in comes to talking about religion and how we won't let the government do such a thing. That is fair and absolutely an ideal view of the way we all want them to be. But we feel this way mainly because of what happened in Nazi Germany, again the Jews did nothing and were exterminated. This scenario is not the same. There are currently millions upon millions of people that would kill you,me, your mother without blinking an eye. They are indoctrinated into believing that. This is not a game this is the real world. Things will get to a point where no man that cherishes his own survival and the survival of the western way of life can sit idly by. This is a war. It has been a war for years and it will only get worse. I just hope people decide that it's time to do something before it's too late. Look at post 9/11 at the surveillance state we live. Imagine if a nuke goes off in this country our lives and freedom will never be the same. Wake the fuck up people.
Fear absolutely can rule us, destroying our way of life by burying your head in the sand sounds cute but doesn't play in the twisted fucked up world we live in. We are facing an existential threat.
@MS1 Millions of people who want to kill westerners? Where are the mass casualties if that's the case? Surely millions of people can figure out how to launch more than a handful of terrorist attacks a year. And yet westerns can safely travel through dozens of Muslim majority countries. In truth, the threat is relatively limited. The fact that you so overestimate the threat to such a great degree merely shows that the psychological component of terrorism clearly works on you. The cognitive dissonance that feeds your irrational fear must be staggering.
@MS1 I wouldn't say most Muslims would want to kill Americans...However @GS1 there are millions if not close to a billion of them that wouldn't hesitate to say that homosexuals, and women who have premarital sex or women that have sex out of wedlock should be stoned. This would be totally unacceptable and absolutely condemned if a fellow American said the same thing.
@gs1 the lack of attacks in America have something to do with the ocean between us and the fact that we are dealing with people that haven't evolved to the level that civilized society has for millennia. What's more terrifying if the fact the only a handful have been able to pull off so much. The stage is set in Europe, this is what they do...immigrate and inundate first-then fireworks. The next decade is going to be a doozy.
People wary of Muslims are not bigots- they're afflicted with "common sense." It's sounds terrifying, I know.
Then you must also be wary of white men because they storm black churches and elementary schools to kill children. And wary of Christians because they murder people at abortion clinics.
@gs1 That analogy just doesn't play. Homegrown terrorists are a problem to deal with as well but for us to actively bring in people from terrorist hot beds and to have gaping borders is just lacking common sense. Some redneck wacko shooting up a church is not an existential threat. I can even understand why abortion makes some people do crazy shit, but those people are not plotting to kill as many Americans as possible like the religion of peace does.
@OP doesn't even put where he works on here. Can't be trusted. Sad!
Our forefathers would be rolling over in their god damn graves right now. All that they fought for to preserve our way of life. Problem is all these new Americans that have come in since World War 2, they don't value American Idealism or culture the same way those who have had their family sacrifice themselves so their children would have a better future. I work with nothing but first or second generation Americans and it's no surprise that they all like Bernie and despise Trump. A little nationalism is what we need.
This guy was just another murderer, look at the facts
While we are at it, might as well ban or deport bigots like those on this chain from the country
Bigots,racists omg
Except you don't get upset when people rip on white folks...it's ok to do that
Tired of the left calling Christians, libertarians, etc "bigots." Get some new material from your liberal talking points. JPM2: I think you're a bigot for being unaccepting of my Christian faith.
^Agree wholeheartedly. Now tell that to the liberal left when they try to silence Christians and Conservatives.
