Without a degree I’d look for regional industry specific consulting, where the experience is applicable. Consulting at scale is largely an MBA plug and play exercise and he/she won’t get a fair shake without any academic credentials

McKinsey engagement, case in point to start

Sounds a lot like me at 30. Have them find a subject area they excel at. The restaurant industry gives an individual great soft skills and thinking on their feet-let alone work ethic. Unfortunately I can’t speak for specific books/courses unless they have that area of focus. I’m 35 now and awaiting a manager offer at another firm. This was all hard work in 6 years. They can succeed!

I’m open if they are wanting to chat with someone if very similar experience. I’m in Cyber now

Some sincere advice, I’d ask in the FB community if anyone made it to consulting with out a college degree would share their journey. I think that info would be helpful to your sibling a lot as a start.

What speciality does your sibling have? Specifically, what does edge want to do in consulting?

*what does he want to do in consulting

Well, I was the one who broke it off. I couldn’t get him to love me the way I needed or even respect me enough. It’s been 6 weeks of not seeing each other. We messaged this week. He doesn’t get it…. His messages show he still doesn’t know what he wants. Yet, if I am totally honest, I hate how part of me wishes he would do a grand gesture/finally decide to be a better man. It’s delusional. It’s crazy how love can be so rosy, sweet & blinding that the red flags seem surmountable.

I have a few questions for people in consulting roles (both external/internal).

My partner is in corporate banking, but he wants to switch to a consulting/strategy-based role. I noticed people with those jobs typically have an MBA, and also majority of the job ads in similar roles has MBA as either a requirement or preferred qualification. So:

1) does MBA actually improve someone's chance in getting those roles?
2) are there any good Canadian MBA programs you'd recommend?

Thank you all!

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?
