Trying to get a job as an SDR or BDR. I have almost 4 years of sales experience and have consistently been a top performer at my current job. Any connections here to help me get my foot in the door?

That’s an entry level role. Should be pretty easy to land if you apply for 5-10 of these jobs and sell your accomplishments and how they lend to success in the new role.

Yeah man that’s a solid plan! Plus, once they see results, you’ll get promoted quick. Maybe even less than a year.

I work for a firm where SDR’s take 75% of everything they invoice. Do you have LinkedIn profile?

like

If you don’t mind me asking, whats the base?

You should probably aim higher in my opinion

Not necessarily. I mean depending on the industry or vertical, more industry experience might be required for higher roles. Plus, if OP is good, promotions will come quick anyway. Also doesn’t hurt to have a solid handle on the sales process before you have to take it on in a new industry/vertical.

Do you have any closing experience at your last sales role? You could most likely land an AE or AM depending on what you did at your last role

Majority of my experience is with car sales. So yes I do have experience closing deals, but it’s a totally different industry and direct to consumer. So I don’t have any B2B experience which is why I think BDR or SDR will help me build a good foundation

I’ve managed to land a SDR job with no prior
Sales experience, so I know you can do it. I enrolled in a tech bootcamp to teach me everything I needed to do the job and ace the interview. People that’s taken the course with car sales experience ended up in AE and SDR roles. If you’re interested, check out the free intro course: https://account.coursecareers.com/ref/39598/

I’m in a similar position; 8 year vet in the car business looking to make a career change and have been having a hard time getting interviews. I’ve had a few, but only one final interview and no offers to speak of. Keep at it! Something will land!

You gotta get them to see you as someone other than a “car guy”. In other words, get a certification in the industry you wanna be in, join a networking group, go back to school, etc. Something to show them that you’re not just a car salesman/manager.

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? Anyone else in “I’ll do my job description and nothing more” mode? I’ve gone above and beyond for my company for a while, and all I got was my quarterly bonuses and remote work taken away without explanation. Owner says he wants more “team building” from his florida mansion (we’re in the northeast). Half the company remote, half the company in the office with 0 explanation why. You want us cracking new accounts? Banging out 100 calls a day? PAY US ACCORDINGLY. Don’t piss on us and call it rain

“We are fully remote”

Me : Awesome so no travel required at all?

“Well you need to come to the office 3 times a week and the other two you will be popping into potential customers on site”

Me: So not remote at all…?

“No we’re remote, you get two days traveling not in the office”

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…
