That’s an entry level role. Should be pretty easy to land if you apply for 5-10 of these jobs and sell your accomplishments and how they lend to success in the new role.
Yeah man that’s a solid plan! Plus, once they see results, you’ll get promoted quick. Maybe even less than a year.
I work for a firm where SDR’s take 75% of everything they invoice. Do you have LinkedIn profile?
If you don’t mind me asking, whats the base?
You should probably aim higher in my opinion
Not necessarily. I mean depending on the industry or vertical, more industry experience might be required for higher roles. Plus, if OP is good, promotions will come quick anyway. Also doesn’t hurt to have a solid handle on the sales process before you have to take it on in a new industry/vertical.
Do you have any closing experience at your last sales role? You could most likely land an AE or AM depending on what you did at your last role
Majority of my experience is with car sales. So yes I do have experience closing deals, but it’s a totally different industry and direct to consumer. So I don’t have any B2B experience which is why I think BDR or SDR will help me build a good foundation
I’ve managed to land a SDR job with no prior
Sales experience, so I know you can do it. I enrolled in a tech bootcamp to teach me everything I needed to do the job and ace the interview. People that’s taken the course with car sales experience ended up in AE and SDR roles. If you’re interested, check out the free intro course: https://account.coursecareers.com/ref/39598/
I’m in a similar position; 8 year vet in the car business looking to make a career change and have been having a hard time getting interviews. I’ve had a few, but only one final interview and no offers to speak of. Keep at it! Something will land!
You gotta get them to see you as someone other than a “car guy”. In other words, get a certification in the industry you wanna be in, join a networking group, go back to school, etc. Something to show them that you’re not just a car salesman/manager.
