I’d also recommend Rice village. Cute and so many places to walk to.
Houston is not good for walking. I recommend The Houstonian for your hotel. They have an incredible spa you could spend an entire day in. The grounds of the hotel are also beautiful with walking trails, pools, etc. Other hotels I’d recommend for a fun weekend are Hotel ZaZa (good people watching) and Post Oak Hotel (the most expensive option).
Restaurants: MAD (fun Spanish tapas/Instagrammable place), Coltivare, Rosie Cannonball, State of Grace, Uchi, Tiny Boxwoods
Avoid Midtown and Washington bars and restaurants.
I’m a native Houstonian. Happy to answer any other specific questions!
General note—recommend taking Ubers instead of walking—Houston is not particularly pedestrian friendly and the best restaurants are not necessarily close to the good hotels.
Coltivare is one of our favorites, but make sure to get a reservation like a week ahead of time (it often fills up).
People choose Houston as a weekend destination? Interesting
I'm a nightlife guy and have gone to all the big cities and Houston ranks in my top for a good time out.
Houston is so big and there’s good food everywhere! If you want good food and bars, your best bet is The Heights (Loro, Xin Chao, Julep,Better luck tomorrow), EaDo (Nancy‘a Hustle, Roots, Tiny Champions, Theodore Rex), or Montrose (Pit Room, Avant Garden (best taco truck there!), Rosie Cannonball, Common Bond, Marmo). Some people like the Galleria area too.
I second the Uber recommendation!
All of the places PM1 listed in the th eights and EaDo are absolute musts in Houston.
Hmu I’ll show y’all around 🥳
Uchi, Nancy’s Hustle, Anvil, Better Luck Tomorrow are all good spots!
Joeys uptown, Se7enhtx, bisou, mad, ciel(expensive)
I agree with those places. Joey Uptown is my fav.
Bungalow heights. Downtown Houston. Hotel and cute bars nearby to go to. If you want to live it up a bit more Fabian’s is walking distance too for a Latin club vibe.
YES TO FABIANS! 🙌🏼 and Interio (walking distance as well), if you wan afterhours too try BLISS in Midtown on Main St. Always have a great time there.
Turkey Leg Hut 😉
Lots of good hotels downtown and a great strip with a range of bars depending on what you’re looking for. Also ~10 min Uber to any of the other nightlife areas you’d want to go to
Downtown, Montrose, Heights. I'd avoid Midtown at night if possible. Washington Ave can get a little crazy, but it's very walkable. Go to Ivy House and search for places similar! 🥳
Stay at the Post Oak hotel - you can do spa, pool (if it’s warm), and eat and drink at the restaurants and bars in and surrounding the hotel. Lots of great people watching at the hotel.
Or hang at the Post Oak during the day and Uber to dinner at any of the places D2 or PM1 recommended.
Hear ya Director! Still too expensive and wrong crowd when a place is too expensive
Betelgeuse on Friday for Karaoke
Lamest idea ever wow
Permission is amazing for a girls night out :)
I would go to Montrose. Great restaurants and two of the best cocktail bars in town (Refuge and Anvil). Need a reservation for the former though. Many places to walk to, eclectic mix of types of places to go and crowds. Close to downtown where you have many great hotels, and the Museum District with Hotel Zaza.
