I’m so upset by this situation. Kirk was assassinated simply for expressing what he believed. He knew the risks, but still believe engaging students in conversation was worth the risk. I give him a ton of credit for getting youngsters to think about where they stand on issues. He always took questions/comments from people who disagreed with him first. He was respectful of people who didn’t agree with his ideas and often “agreed to disagree”. He was a Man of God who believe the best about humanity. It’s unbelievable, to me, that people could be so unthoughtful about him being assassinated. The premise that because he believed in the constitution, specifically the right to bear arms, he should be ok with being a target to kill is absurd on its face. I can’t believe people can be so cold hearted. The issue is not gun control. We have many laws about gun control that are not being followed. The issue, IMO, is about children spending to much time alone and on social media. Some influencers encourage violence and egg others on eradicate what they perceive as a threat. To eliminate people like Charlie no matter the consequences. Are his parents at fault, maybe, but listening to the far left and their vitriolic speech has convinced kids to eliminate groups of people who disagree with their perspective. This is not how life works. People are simply done with this kind of violence, just done. It’s become clear to me, and others, that this kind of speech that encourages violence, has to stop. Now.

Let’s remember this when we point fingers at others.
He is not conservative at all. His family is. He lives with a trans roommate that he has been seen kissing and holding hands with. His family even says that they have totally different thoughts on politics and life.
