I came to US on an L1b in 2018 and switched to H1b in 2021 Oct. Current 797/visa expiry is stated as July 2023, by which I would have spent 1.5 years on H1b visa (and 3.5 years on L1b before that). During h1b extension , will I get another 4.5 years of extension? How does extension work when u switch visas?

I’m an immigration paralegal but I have an MA in human rights. When does EY start the H1B extension process? My current visa started in October 2019, and will expire in August 2022. When will they start the next process for me?

I know some of my friends are doing EB3 visa (unskilled workers) and they already got GC after 1.5 years. I was really surprise that it takes unskilled workers route much shorter time. So what is preventing ppl from biting the bullet for a year working on farms or fast food chains and gets GC quickly? I’m genuinely curious.

Fishes - In order to change employers, do we need a I-485 petition pending for 180 days or more in addition to an approved i140? I’m trying to figure out any issues on changing employers post i140 approval but i485 not filed yet. TIA!
