Want to dip my toes in the crypto game. Grew up poor and it all seems so risky, but I am living comfortable now so willing to try! Where should I start?

Get on Coinbase and do the learn and earn stuff.

like

Absolutely is. Did this throughout 2020 and now have about 300 :)

Few pointers:
- Go to Coinbase but use coinbase pro for trading. Both are free downloads/accounts but pro has lower fees when you trade. You can transfer amounts freely between them.

- Dip your toes in - buy small amounts every paycheck (nothing you can’t afford to lose). While there are “safer” coins than others, there’s always risk (even if it’s from losing your account/wallet/…). Learn to get comfortable.

- Follow a few blogs/chats like this one, Reddit,… learn about the coins you see mentioned a lot but be careful. Do your own research (DYOR). Don’t just buy something because someone mentions it, unless you do it with fun money. There are general groups like this one but reddit also has specialized subreddits for each coin where they discuss the technology, use cases,…

- buy low, sell high. Sounds stupid but it means: don’t buy because something has pumped already (FOMO). Don’t sell because something is falling (FUD).

- find a tracker that works for you to do your taxes.

Start with BTC and ETH. Add some alt ( smaller market cap) coins with long term viable use cases: LINK, SOL, CRV

ALL IN DOGECOIN

funny

I'm going to give some advice some on here won't like. If you can't stomach watching wild swings, wait for the next bear market. Invest then. The worst thing you can do is fomo when the market is at ATH then watch a crash. You'll get discouraged and never trade again. A bear will come eventually. Start with BTC, ETH

like

Buy btc, eth, sol and HODL for couple of years. You’ll be rewarded.

like

I like MATIC too but those threes : BTC, ETH, and SOL are solid. 🙏🏻

I also grew up poor. 1st generation American. But I was blessed to grow up in a country with opportunity to gather as much knowledge as you desire and create wealth for myself and my loved ones.. Bitcoin and hold

like

Buy btc

Dollar cost average into BTC and ETH. Learn. Research. Invest in other coins you understand and believe have a strong use case. Maybe catch the occasional shitcoin for giggles.

Figure out your budget first and determine how much you can spare without losing sleep if you were to lose that amount or see your account drop with 50% in a month. Usually your budget is per paycheck/month. Put the amount over that period (I.e once per paycheck or once per month).

Don’t DCA lower amounts per day; you’ll just pay more fees. For me, every paycheck (2/month) works well.

Start with BTC and ETh, go from there

Buy $UFO and thank me later

So what do you think of Scoped Storage ?

It means ICOs are no longer open to anyone. You have to be a certified investor with the SEC. This is why Filecoin is conducting their ICO with CoinList instead of on their own. CoinList ensures their ICO is only open to certified Wall Street investors and makes sure FileCoin's ICO is treated as a normal IPO.

Granted please correct me because IPO investing is something I don't know a ton about.

like

Think this consolidation period is going to end in the near term, primarily driven by:

1. Microstrategy “open sourcing” their playbook for purchasing BTC as public company

2. Coinbase to offer staking for ETH in Q1 ‘21 - think how much will get locked up.

3. GME / stonks fallout - retail may moreso see the benefits of decentralization and crypto. Yes Coinbase is CEX to get you onboard, but DEX can’t be turned off.
