Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

Looking for a referral to MBB firms - thanks! 🤝

😂 that's not the way to look at it. McK have always paid lower than peers because they believe the brand makes up the difference. Exit ops, perceived prestige, types of projects and not just salary give them the status.
This is highly subjective but: I felt like projects I have done were atleast on par with those that I was told by the McK peers. Might have just been lucky. Exit Ops is maybe the best argument for me... appreciate the comment
Associate at McK is the post MBA role, just before Engagement Manger. Business Analyst is the entry role
In DE there is Senior Associate in between so another 2 years
Well, doesn't that fit to the brand perfectly? Your experience and skillset make you a SA in a tier 2 firm or a regular associate at Tier 1.
Compensation is then just a function of supply and demand.
McKinsey Germany rarely hires people at the Senior Associate level. But, promotion to SASC from ASC can happen very quickly if your experience and skills justify it. Don't take it personally, and don't let it affect your decision-making process.
Titles are irrelevant, and every firm is different. Being a SA in one firm after 4 years and an an A in another matters nothing, and certainly doesn’t indicate higher or lower "value”. What matters is the work you do and your compensation and your future opportunity.
Am surprised Mck pays worse, but every market is different. We’re typically towards the highest end of market, though rarely the top.
