We have a patio and by law, dogs or pets aren’t allowed to be there, unless it’s a service animal. Some people kind of insist it’s a service animal without the paperwork… or some have sketchy paperwork… at what point do you draw the line?

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with these problems. That's my manager's job. If I was you (or him), I'd probably let the people with paperwork slide and put my foot down on the ones without it. Even if the paperwork looks questionable, I'm not a detective and wouldn't feel comfortable asking them to leave if there was even a chance the documents were legit.

Yeah I let it slide most of the time, but it sure is uncomfortable when other customers complain and you have to explain they’re a service animal. The service dogs with like the official clothing around them look fine, but if you just bring in a random puppy… dunno.

like

It’s a legal issue, though, asking for paperwork. Anybody correct me if I’m wrong, but under ADA, you cannot require people coming in to show anything. You can just ask a couple of specific questions about the animal. That being said, I do wish it were easier for those who had a genuine need to prove and not get such a bad rap from those who are taking advantage.

100% service animals are so great for people who need them. But for the people just saying it to bring their pup in, just kind of sad.

What is the deal with people listening to videos and music on their phones, WITHOUT HEADPHONES, in public spaces?? I’ve seen a huge uptick in this on trains, the tube, in coffee shops, etc. Is this really how self-centered we’ve become? Did people forget that they need to behave differently when around others vs in lockdown at home? Wtf

I had quite the day the other day. Coustmer comes in and then ends up leaving with a grossed out look on his face just for him to put in a complaint about my appearance...he down right called me some nasty things for no reason. Still feeling gross about it. He was upset for no reason as far as I'm concerned.

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?
