came back from London in 2019 after 8 years there. the only thing i am missing is the access to europe for travels. everything else is better here for me and the family. hope your spouse is getting some expat benefits or sf equivalent salaries in london, then it’ll be funn
Good to know. Thanks

Are you a US citizen? Is your spouse? If so, you will still owe taxes in the US. You will get credit under a tax treaty, but generally doesn't make it flat. Some companies will offer "tax equalization", paying any difference you have. But it can be material if not covered.
Add to that that the UK's economy is trash and only getting worse due to Brexit, lack of public listings on their stock exchange, fleeing their former elite financial center to the mainland, etc.

Ya we both are US citizens. Employers will not cover any tax equalization.
Reasons to move to London:
- if you have kids of a certain age. the experience is invaluable to them and will help them round out perspectives and world views
- if you have money and can afford to live in a high cost of living area while not getting paid well
- if you hate tasty food but love eating food that have some bar of quality in farming and production
-if the gray weather delights and warms you
- if you're in a phase of exploration and adventure ready for new life experiences
- if you're keen to learn what it feels like to live in a city of culture, arts, and entertainment
do it. if it sucks come back. but you'll have great stories and memories to earmark it.

The culture and arts piece is for real. Every corner and every building feels so much more sophisticated.
Do you have an actual offer to relocate to London or is this hypothetical?
