Do you think a job being remote vs in office should have an impact on salary? Ex. Do you view this as a benefit? Should it have a monetary value when comparing salaries? Family member told me my job being remote and having flexibility to drop my kids off at daycare is worth $20K…. Especially curious what managers think!

It is, but that doesn’t mean you should accept less than market value. The work will still be work. Regardless you’re doing it at home or in the office. You’re the one saving, not the company.

I don’t view remote work as a benefit and I certainly wouldn’t entertain a decrease in salary to have that option.

As far as childcare goes, you may need to reallocate your calculus to adjust - much like one would have to adjust for a longer commute.

I want to ask for a 20%raise, knowing that the company is planning the year budget around now should I give my manager a heads up as to what I’m expecting before my salary review? The raise this year came with the title of “Lead” and more work responsibilities, talking with a co-worker we now make about the same amount. I started working here right out of college (10 years).

Have an offer from AWS for an L7 Principal PMT role: $215k base + $275k sign on bonus for Year 1 and $215k for year 2 + 5100 RSUs (@ $130 / share). This is the initial offer; where is there room for negotiation? Base or Sign on Bonus or RSUs? I realize it's a good offer, but I'm looking for: $225k base + existing sign on + 5500 RSUs. Does that sound like a decent counter?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country.
