This.

You're going to go through a lot of champagne - I'd recommend against the big house entry level bottles (50-60 dollars) and go for solid cooperative grower brands, Lhuillier and Nicolas Feuillatte (25-35 dollars)

Go for crowd pleasers! Red: Merlot or Shiraz, White Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé both Loire based Sauvignon Blancs. Safe on the champagne, take a decent cava or Sekt.

Daou

Crement de Bourgogne or Crement de limoux are quality champagne alternatives

Out of pure curiosity, does anyone in here currently work in the wine industry? I’m interested to get a sense of experience levels here. (Not that it matters at all! We all learn at our own pace.)

I work in wine media now, but pre-pandemic was a Sommelier in restaurants in NYC.

Have any of my fellow corporate wine professionals made their way onto Fishbowl yet? 🍷

Big fan of this one. Not super bold. More velvety. Subtle leathery taste, hints of vanilla! I picked up a half case for 120, or $20 a bottle! I may actually buy more. 8/10 for price and taste. Very elegant.

I need advice from the collective. It seems like there is a trend to sell wine in unique bottles. The only problem with this, those bottles will not fit into my wine fridge. Has anyone transferred wine to standard bottles and are you concerned about the wine one it hits the air? I’ve looked at vacuum stoppers but not sure if this is a good idea or not.
