I’ve been working for the same company for over 7 years— I believe they have improperly categorized my coworkers and me as contractors. We are supervised, have regular hours, daily meetings, we’re expects to be working Monday through Friday, our work (editing and writing) is essential to the operation’s purpose. They don’t pay any social security or unemployment. After complaining they have said they’d agree to make us employees, but with a pay cut. What should I do?

I switched jobs recently to a one that has reduced responsibilities but nearly 50% more pay than my old job. However, my new boss doesn’t really allow me to flex my capabilities and asks for the bare minimum from me. In meetings, she doesn’t pause to allow me to speak/ask questions (if there is a third party vendor, for example). I find this all to be very stifling and feel she wants me to just sit and shut up. Has anyone been in this situation? I want to leave but maybe I’m being rash.

The way firms throw wads of cash at attempts to impress associates then nickel and dime us on the small stuff makes no sense. She's been out on maternity leave since September and I've had to cover her role and do my job, which is two levels above mine and supervising someone above my level.
