What are everyone's thoughts on contract positions? Maybe not permanently, but for a year or two to gain different experience as well as that higher pay. From what I'm seeing they usually pay higher to compensate for missed benefits. I also see some talent agencies offer benefits.

The biggest concern I'm seeing is not exactly knowing when it will end (I dont know if an exact date is written into the contract), making it difficult to plan out your next opportunity.

I'm all for it and I want to do that in the future for some flexibility. Are you looking for accounting-related contracts? If so, how are you finding them?

funny

Right? I definitely see some benefits. I'm not looking, but see them often listed on LinkedIn. I also just connected with a recruiter (focus finance/accounting) who hires for contract work. He explained some agencies offer paid holidays and health insurance for added benefit.

Contractors have marginally less security than a normie job but not by a huge amount. They can terminate contracts in line with the terms of that contract which can be before the official termination date but you can also be sacked out of a job with no explanation within the first 2 years.

The biggest risk is that they mis-sell a contract position as 18 months but really they aim to terminate in 3 months.

Money is better but career progression is halted.
