Need some advice here. Senior 2, decent performance but I feel like I’m not progressing to the level that other seniors the same level as me are and pretty sure I’m ready to transition out of public.

Anyone other seniors out there feel this way??

like

Also Senior 2. Good ratings but the thought of staying till manager kills me. Wish I left before busy season...

like

Are we the same person? You took the words right out of my mouth. I can’t believe I didn’t quit when I had the chance...

Senior 2 here - I used to be super good at what we do but not feeling as fulfilled as I used to, which has been impacting my performance. Downhill spiraling quickly and can't seem to care about work anymore. Pretty sure I'm ready to transition to industry too

like

1000000% feel the same way, also a senior 2 here at a big 4 firm

like

Senior 2 - I feel like I haven’t progressed as well as others at my level, especially with more technical issues. This isn’t the reason I want to leave public accounting though .

like

Senior 2 here too. This is what I'm afraid of as well. Depending on the person, sometimes I know more than them because I've been on so many clients, but some people in my class are really good cuz they had exposure to really technical areas early on in their careers. I feel like after this busy season I'm gonna need to have a serious conversation with my counselor on whether my progression is enough for a manager track or if I should look to use my talents elsewhere. I don't want to make it to senior 3 and then not get promoted....

What level are you talking about

Advice: go for it! No regrets!

No, I love my job. But what advice, exactly, are you looking for?

Fish who have been feds,

I have been stuck deciding between two offers (both in IC, but one is more program analysis -similar to consulting work but on the fed side, and actual analysis).

The program analysis offer is at a higher GS level and a more well known agency, but is not what I’m interested in.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a decision? Go with what I want to do, or go with the more well known agency and higher gs?

Totally disinterested in tax, have 2.5 years experience and masters in accounting. Banking and finance jobs for about 3 years before I got into accounting. I don’t like the stuff that comes along with public, such as time tracking and hours goals. A transfer to audit is low on my priority list (also tough to pull off). Just started actively looking in industry, but fear that if I continue to stay in my current position, I will get pigeonholed into tax only positions in the future. Cont...

Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

PhD in Chemistry w/ 8 YOE. Now pursuing a part-time MBA while working as an R&D manager is a chemical company. I don't enjoy chemistry research anymore and want to try something else. I'm interested in consulting and think it could open doors for me to do something different after a few years. My main struggle is that I think I'm pretty old to make such a change (if I can get into consulting) ...not sure if anyone has a similar background that can share the insights.
