what are some in house companies or sectors that are good for WLB but pay 300k to 500k TC with remote options?

Most companies are still hybrid and I am not in tech or pharma and make between 400-500 TC as a senior counsel

like

I’d look in pharma or medtech at the director level and above. A few companies that I can think of that have fully remote options include Eli Lilly, Amgen, and Stryker

like

Full remote is not terribly common for line attorneys. Most of the IHC who are remote were directors and above who relocated during COVID

Confirmed that there are lots of legal roles with reasonable WLB at Google. Yes, the lawyers that work on Gemini work hard: that’s the big bet of the company and lots of lawyers in other product areas would kill to make that move. But, if you’re in a mature product area, the jobs aren’t sleepy but they’re not crazy, and ACC can make $500+

like

correction hybrid, now tell me the sectors and companies

Energy companies in Texas, but those are only going to have hybrid schedules at best / not fully remote.

Tech-Sr counsel band can range from 4-600k. No remote though, we have all lost that amazing WLB.

I'm non US citizen and thinking of moving back to EU. My plan is getting remote opportunities across the world and work as a freelancer. My speciality is Data analytics and BI (Qlikview, Tableau). 1) How likely I can get a gig from the US? 2) if a job looking for a remote 2-3 months contract do they care what country I'm in? 3) how can I compete Indian rates as I'm in Europe 60-70$ per hour as a BI consultant is a good rate but I see online rates as low 10$😫?

Planning a trip to Rome and Naples with day trips to Tivoli and Pompeii. Is 1 week enough? I feel like reading through 3/4 day Rome and 2 day Naples itineraries, the trip seems rushed. I have unlimited PTO but my SO is limited in time (but luckily he can work extra hrs and then use less PTO). I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out

Any tips for moving up in a medium/large-sized legal department, aside from switching companies? I work in a collegial environment with plenty of opportunities to create more value, but the management level is fairly crowded and it seems the clearest path to get one of those roles is to be hired into it. What has been your experience? Thanks!

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

Hello, hoping for some input on how to time a job change. At a startup - we are doing well now but unless we have complete turnover in management I don’t think we have a bright future post-COVID. I could coast here 1-2 years before having to look. I’ve been here for a little under a year. This is my second in house job after 10 years at the same firm. The market is hot now, probably won’t be in 1-2 years and I am getting interest for good roles. OTOH I don’t want to look like a job hopper.

Considering joining a small 50-person company as the only attorney (prior attorney is retiring). (I am currently in-house at a F50). For others who have done the same path, what surprises did you have when moving from a large company to a small one?

For example, it sounds like I should not expect a document management system, based on a prior post in this bowl. I’m guessing expenses like state bar fees and cell phone are not reimbursed.

Any advice on things to expect (or not expect)?

Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?

For in-house counsel roles, does firm prestige matter?
