Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.
What buckets would you generally use for cases?
I’m exhausted from interviewing and caseing 🥵
Bain & Company Got dinged after a final round AC interview with Bain & Company as an experienced hire with 1 YOE. Currently at $75k base salary and on average work 30-40 hours a week.
Considering $15-25k increase in salary, but double the number of work hours, is it worth reapplying to Bain next year or better to wait to apply until after business school?

If you are planning to stay to make Partner, you should ask who (and how many) has done that after lateralling at your level. And the biggest factor is how fast and how well you can integrate yourself into an established pyramid. Not easy for outsiders, especially at BCG where it requires a constellation of Partners in the pyramid to support and sponsor you.
If you are thinking of this as a 2-3 year gig, then go to McKinsey.
Culture of the office your joining + industry practice strength if there is a big gap
P1 curious why McK would be a better choice for a short term stay. Thoughts?
You will learn a ton at any one of MBB and T2 strategy firms. In my experience, McKinsey has a more structured and rigid approach to problem-solving and ways of working. I think this can be a double-edged sword, especially for homegrown senior talent at McK who can't integrate well into other firms because they've only learned the "McKinsey Way".
If you are still building a consultant toolkit (and you will be at your level), I think McKinsey offers the best training among other things like prestige, alum network, etc. Don't think BCG and Bain come even close to that.
My 2 cents
Definitely industry strength. I would say you go to MBB for the network and exit ops, but even if to stay you want to build your portfolio with a strong leadership and reputation in any given industry. Culture second since you don’t wanna hate every team you work on 😂
For manager level, by far should be the firm, practice and office’s ability to integrate a mid-level lateral hire.
