What are they going to do if you say no? Rate you as an average performer and give you the exact same raise and bonus as you would have gotten?

You should learn to view everything as a good opportunity.

*Overbooked? Great opportunity to learn to juggle tasks!
*Underpaid? Great opportunity to learn to budget yourself!
*Not allowed to expense dinner? Great opportunity to show solidarity with all the less-fortunate people in the world!

That was good

Applies more once we return to the office, but never turn down an opportunity to join someone for lunch. Essentially, try to always meet new people no matter their rank or service line.

Stop caring so much

Speak up and be your own advocate. If you’re not getting the type of experience you want or you’re consistently working insane hours, you need to take action to correct it. The firms will walk all over you if you can’t stand up for yourself.

Litigators—how many different cases are you on?

Been feeling spread too thin lately but I don’t know whats typical. Curious what others do. And would you mind sharing whether you’re a junior, midlevel, partner, etc??

I realize sheer number of cases doesn’t tell the whole story… obviously you can be buried on one massive case. I’m finding it hard to jump back and forth between everything I have going on right now, though, but I don’t know if the answer is to just deal with it.
