I think the country has a lot more issues than need to solve before worrying about TikTok. Also TikTok being a Chinese app and not an American app allows more freedom of speech and people can express themselves rather than Instagram or Facebook where they can block anything.

Seems like they really want to stop the free access to certain information
I think the issue is that it is Chinese spyware, ( as if our government doesn’t use any app they can to spy on us), the promotion of non-educational and divisive content (again as if American apps don’t do that), and that it is Chinese owned so any profits and taxes off those profits from it aren’t going to our government 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️.
Personally I think it’s a bad idea because it goes much beyond banning TikTok, it gives the government power to pretty much ban any app they don’t like.
Also it doesn’t really ban the app or affect what’s on it. It just says they have to sell it to an American company.
I also feel like it’s the government’s way of cracking down on people making careers off of social media vs traditional employment and crack down on the quick spread of information they don’t necessarily want the general public having access too. It’s a ridiculous thing to be worried about when we have so many other issues going on in this country
Because American companies don’t own, it can’t control, it or profit from it. Once they sell it to an American company, suddenly it will be the best thing ever. Follow the money.

It’s just another way to control us, we learn more on TikTok than we do in the news and the government doesn’t want the people to know how corrupt they are. They use the fact that people are unaliving themselves but that’s been happening long before the internet and getting rid of TikTok won’t change it.

I feel it’s unfair. Other than the “government issues” there are people that make living off TikTok. Just in my opinion. Everyone has their own.

For this to be overwhelmingly bi-partisan, there has to be stuff they know, that we don't know. There is way more than meets the eye here.
I believe it’s because both sides benefit from stopping the share of information on a platform they can’t control. A lot of people take to tiktok to share political news that goes unreported. Neither party wants their secrets out there
