What are your thoughts on unlimited pto? I hear some people like it and some people don’t because they think it’s a scheme to get you to take less days than if you were allotted.

Unlimited PTO works if you are working in a place with a culture that prioritizes work life value. I have worked in a place like that which was very good about paid time off as long as we weren't requesting it during a big project. But I know a lot of companies use unlimited PTO as basically a scam. They guilt you into never taking any time off.

like

My issue with it was that it was not truly unlimited. It was touted as such but when I asked for two weeks off, it was never granted. Needs of the business and all that. (This was before nursing).

Considering the backlog of work or reports that had set deadlines with NO extra coverage, taking earned PTO always meant extra work.
Taking all the 4 or 5 weeks earned yearly also generated open hostility from management.
(as did keeping it and just rolling it over)

With overtime I’ll be finishing the year about $15000 above my base pay. I have questions: first, I know I’ll be putting in at least the same number of hours I’m current working (50+/wk). How do I leverage that to avoid a pay cut. Also, any tips from people in this position?

I think I bombed a case interview with Chartis for an associate consultant position. The case was in excel and required me to manipulate the data via share screen with the interviewer. I couldn’t get some functions to work and was struggling to go through the 16 page PDF of data. I had several answers correct but needed to walk through the remaining questions with some guidance. My other 3 case interviews went well and I had great conversation with the partner for behavioral interview. Thoughts?
