What do you think does the future of data science and analytics in consulting look like?

I feel like AI solutions are getting more and more sophisticated and the real gaps lie on implementation, and less on strategy.

Still gotta know which initiatives apply when, which is the essence of strategy, no?

I agree with DS1. I think there will still be a need to understand strategy around AI in addition to implementation of it.

There are going to be companies who invest in the infrastructure to actually DO data science.

And there are companies that are gonna never “get it”.

Most are in the second bucket, and their middle management and leadership is wildly ignorant of how technology works.

I’ve had idiot leaders claim that AWS won’t solve our problems and that we need Azure - we just needed them to bump our compute instance from 8g ram to 64, and let us use a 8core over a 2core instance. Pretty amazing how much ignorant people can slow down realllllly basic development and science.

I legitimately want to understand that person's thought process

Anyone know of an alternative to StackOverflow for asking tech questions? The community is super toxic and I'm looking for a place I can casually ask questions that might seem dumb without being hrangued for not providing an essay proof of the research I've already done. Or some sort of buddy system where I can ping a person of relevant experience those questions. It's better to poke someone's brain for a minute than to spin in circles reading docs/dead end articles sometimes.

I have been working in healthcare clinics and health techs for a few years now. I’m an independent consultant. Bust, a friend of mine referred me to a big bank job. The role is of data governance manager. What should I know for the interview, or how can I prepare for it? Any thoughts? They told me I don’t need financial background. Currently in consulting where I get to do data visualizations sometimes but not always, have an opportunity to shift to a data analytics focused role. Coming to the realization that consulting is not for me (tech person) feeling angry that salaries at D will never be on pair with FANG and that leadership is not tech focused. For example you could be a soul contributor at fang making 240k and people at Deloitte wait 10+ years to earn that as Senior Managers because they need to climb the corporate ladder. It seems super clear cut to me now, if you want to make money in tech don’t join consulting firms. Am I wrong?
