Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

It can vary by agency - media and creative agencies are very different in the role.
A lot of client management and organization.
In a creative agency or 360 agency, they’re the glue that holds the account together. Wrangles the strategists [like me], creatives, clients, media team. account execs do a lot of the day to day stuff that keeps the trains running on time. AAEs do a lot of grunt work [minutes in meetings].
A good A/D is a partner to everyone and facilities the execution of the great work. Great ones make it look easy which it’s not.
If we ever start shooting again, that’s a whole different ball of wax where they keep everyone happy on shoots.
I’ve been been at pure media agencies where account people do some of the strategy as well.
