Hi Fishes,
Any news of hikes in OSSI?
Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I want to say, as a new joiner EM at Mck I've been very very impressed with the onboarding programme and the support this an experienced hire. The firm is aware that it can be hard for EH, as BCG 1 has pointed out and are making an effort to help in the integration plan. 6 month period to apprentice as an associate and active sponsor identified to help open doors etc. I can report back in a year to confirm if it did indeed work, right now the signs are good.
Hello SM1, I can report back that it was the right career move for me. It's a tough gig (no sh!t) but also a hugely rewarding experience so far. Client impact is unreal and in in situations every single day that test my brain in ways I've never imagined possible. I'm hoping, now they I've settled in and familiar with my surroundings, I'll be able to get a handle on my wlb and push back more to leadership because I'm more confident in my abilities. Please ask more question/ DM, would be more than happy to share
Was recently in this position with an EM offer at M. Decided to stay due to the network I have at ACN, similar comp, and stress at having to prove myself all over again
I can’t speak to McK but as a lateral at BCG I’d echo some of the thoughts above from what I have seen - I suspect they’re similar at McK.
1. Your risk of getting outcounceled in 1-2 years is much higher than it is for homegrown folks - I’d guess 80% don’t make it to the next level. It’s a mix of lack of network / support compared to homegrown folks, not understanding some of the unwritten ways of doing things / cultural norms, and some unconscious / subtle bias.
2. You absolutely should not take a step backwards in comp either immediately or over the next two years. Huge red flag if this is what is being offered. I also wouldn’t take a step back in level if you are an experienced Manager or higher.
3. You should definitely negotiate a signing bonus. Huge red flag if they don’t want to play.
4. When you’re looking at pay are you just looking at base or are you looking at bonus too? MBB bonuses are much larger than big 4. Assume you’re going to get target bonus at best, not the high end of the range.
5. Exit opps are better so if you’re looking to get the McK name on your resume and then bounce that may be a viable strategy.
Highly recommend the risk of getting coached out in 6-12 months. Non home grown EMs can be “look down upon”
Your network at your big4, and ability to promote every 2-3 years might be worth considering, vs the brand equity of McK, unless you have a definitive intention to exit to industry in the short term. If so, I would do the McKinsey EM in your shoes
Thanks, have been thinking along the same line. It’s hard. Definitely have strong network and up for SM in the next year or so. Wondering if the brand and quality of projects is worth the risk

Curious to understand if you are making a lateral move to Mck? Assuming you are Manager up for SM soon, I'm surprised you would make lesser at Mck for a lateral move. I moved recently as an M from big 4 to an MBB and my base increased alone was 50% even without a sign on bonus

On your question about sign in bonus, definitely no harm asking. I did not and I'm kicking myself!
I was offered a sign on bonus! Dm for details
DM’d you
Thank you so much for the detailed response!
