I actually just kind of fell into it. I was doing some administrative work for a private company and when that went under I found an entire level healthcare admin job that allowed me to go back to school and now I think I have a great opportunity to climb my up . How about yourself?
I fell into it. I was a cancer patient and the office I was doing Chemo in needed a receptionist and here I am 17 years later, college degree and feeling burnt out.
Leading people to be their best selves while cultivating a super healthy and fun culture is what drives me.
I get to lead an entire office of people to be their best and offer their best for the betterment of our patients! All while having a great time doing it! What could be better?!
Mentor
I had to do an undergrad internship has a MHT/BHT (B.S. in Psychology). From there I learned the various administration positions. I knew that once I got my bachelors I was not going to stay a tech. Quality/Risk/Compliance was the most interesting admin department to me. I expressed my interest to the leadership team and the Director of Risk at that facility began to mentor me.
His best advice to me was that “If you are willing to move around, your career in healthcare administration will take off tremendously”. I moved across the country twice since graduation. Landed a Director position within 2 years of graduation. Currently the Director of Quality/Risk/Compliance at a Behavioral health facility now.
