I just got an offer from Accenture Switzerland, Total Comp 170K with 140K base. I have 6YOE as IT consultant and 9YOE in total. I am just upset that they did not offer me a relocation package of 20k because the cost of living in Zurich for a family with 1 child is crazy! Should I insist for a sign on bonus before accepting the offer?

Surely, it is a challenging yet rewarding career path. I have been working in this field for five years and have found it to be incredibly enlightening. I have had the opportunity to work with inmates and help them make positive changes in their lives. It is truly rewarding to see the progress they make and the lives they are able to rebuild.
I did it for a brief stint early in my career. It wasn't for me, personally. I found the work to be incredibly daunting and I often left feeling frustrated at the end of the day. I also felt unsafe many times, despite being assured I was well protected. I'm sure some folks thrive in this niche, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart.
If you are someone that feels like the everyday job of being a social worker is heavy or has an impact on your emotional well being. I wouldn't recommend it. It is rewarding if you can get through to an inmate but their load is heavy and they can be aggressive sometimes as a woman it gave me a lot of anxiety
I enjoyed working at both state and county facilities. Though there were other social workers who handled mental health work, my main focus was reintegration preparation. I was quite busy, but I loved my job. It gets extra marks for being a union job. I just left because I relocated to a different state. I'll try to get back to it by taking the civil service here when it opens. You must be able to set boundaries and have thick skin since some people will say hurtful things to you.
I’d love to hear the answers to this question. I used to be interested in it. The subreddit for social work has info about prison social work.
