What is EY’s in-office policy? How hard is it enforced? Does it matter by level?
For reference, at West Monroe, it’s a 3 day in-market guideline (in office or on site) if you’re near one of our offices, but not heavily enforced - a lot of two days in the office if you live in Chicago for example. More senior people basically do what they want and it’s more guidance for more junior staff. Thanks.EY

Client facing are generally expected to be in the office 3 days a week. Usually you’re traveling or working at the client site. Depends on team and project, though.

If your client is remote you more than likely won’t be forced to go to the office but if your client wants you onsite yes you’re going to have to go.

How do consulting firms do this and what is the point?

If you have to ask that’s why you’re at Accenture.

Will be completely team based. No way to know

At my office, it’s hybrid and totally up to the folks. Office is usually mostly empty except for all hands etc. but I am with EYP so not sure if it’s different

Slightly off-topic but curious what you’re seeing with in-town clients especially if they are 4 to 5 days a week (not every client is out of town). If a client has their own people in the office five days a week and you are doing a project with them, does that also infer the consultants will be at client site five days a week? Curious if anyone has any recent data points.

I’ve seen some clients doing this. They do hybrid m-f onsite one week and remote the next. I think that’s how their FTEs work.

There is no in-office policy. Project driven.

I’ve never worked on a project with anyone in my local office FWIW.

Hi all,
I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
