Tata Consultancy I am a manager in Capgemini... have an offer frm TCS. the designation being offered is Assistant Consultant.. 9.8 years experience( 5 yrs with Cap) Even though I am getting a package of 25Lakhs.. it seems like a demotion in designation.. Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. I think you are too young to understand the wlb concept. Wlb doesn't mean you have less or more work. It means, the work is standard and is not unpredictable. It means you can afford to take a leave when needed and plan your vacations as and when needed without the worry of leave cancelation. It means you don't have a toxic management that forces you or micro manages you. It also means that you can plan to go to a movie after work and actually go as there is no pressure from someone. Work load is different from work life balance. If you cannot go to your kid's school when they call you on meaningful things like pt meeting, then there is minimal wlb. 9 or ten hours is not a big deal. An efficient person does good work anyway.

Is WLB only related to working hrs?
There are other stuff like, how your colleagues, managers or sr leadership disturb you during tour working hrs
Also how much time you spent on calls and how many of them are really imp and worthwhile

I don't understand how this strict timing is under our control.
If your manager or a user or a teammate pings you at say 7:25 pm to have a quick call, regarding any xyz issues. When that call ends is not upto you.
It may extend 1 hr, so how are you really thinking of maintaining this 9:30 hrs timing I am clueless about.
I usually work 12 hrs here in IBM and I like working.
Its not exhausting as I take breaks in between, but strict 9-10 hrs never works in IT buddy.
You will have to join Government job then, where they have no regard about their customer. They will close their offices at sharp given time.
IT doesn't work like that. Assuming you asked this question makes me think you are a fesher out of college or a 1-2 yoe person.
