What is industry standard for raises/salary increases in higher education administration? I am closing in on a year at my company and have out performed every statistic they put before me. They brought me on board slightly underpaid but I was desperate for a job after months of getting to the 3rd interview and getting ghosted. My husband and I have goals that mean I need a 7% raise. Is it reasonable to ask for that amount in this industry? Any advice for negotiating raises?

So hard to say in this current political environment. I don't know about you but my school is closing down so many departments/admin divisions. Seems like we would be lucky to get 3% raises, and I'm not even holding my breath for that much right now.

You're probably right, but if she starts at 7% she can start negotiating the increase.

I would definitely ask for the increase in salary. Explain how much you appreciate the opportunity you've been given, you enjoy your work etc. Based on my performance however I am requesting an increase in pay of 7%, or what ever # to get into a bidding process of course.

It is definitely reasonable to ask for that. I would say a typical raise is probably 3-5%. However, based on performance you can always try and negotiate more.

Just received a formal offer from Deloitte Consulting as a SC in Strategy & Analytics. Base is $125K, no sign-on bonus. This isn’t much of an increase from what I’m making now. Haven’t reached out to negotiate yet and the recruiter has been pretty quick on the phone so far. I’m coming from a smaller firm, 8 YOE, mainly data analytics and cloud. Any insight or tips how to navigate for increased base?
