So hard to say in this current political environment. I don't know about you but my school is closing down so many departments/admin divisions. Seems like we would be lucky to get 3% raises, and I'm not even holding my breath for that much right now.
You're probably right, but if she starts at 7% she can start negotiating the increase.
I would definitely ask for the increase in salary. Explain how much you appreciate the opportunity you've been given, you enjoy your work etc. Based on my performance however I am requesting an increase in pay of 7%, or what ever # to get into a bidding process of course.
It is definitely reasonable to ask for that. I would say a typical raise is probably 3-5%. However, based on performance you can always try and negotiate more.
