What is one thing you wish you would have known before going into PR and Comms? For me, it is the blurred lines of work life balance.

If they had told me how much of my job would just be emailing and circling back and emailing and following up and pitching and emailing, I probably would have reconsidered. I love my job, but sometimes it feels like I live in my inbox.

Ugh the emails kill me. I had no clue how much following up I’d be doing in my adult life

The blurred lines between work and personal life is a good one. I was not prepared for how truly mentally exhausting the job can be. I knew it would be stressful, but I thought the periods of downtime would balance it out. I was so, so wrong.

True! Working at an agency, you're either drowning in work, or you're stressed out because you're NOT drowning in work but petrified about not being billable enough.

What serving clients is really like. I swear sometimes half of my job is doing random tasks that our clients request that have nothing to do with our work.

My wife often calls me by 5:45/6 to ask where I am if I’m not headed home yet. Sometimes she’s stressed with kids/dogs/dinner and really wants me home. This really throws off my concentration because it makes me feel rushed. Like many practices sometimes I’m out at 5:30, other times it’s much later. Just depends and is unpredictable. Any advice on how to approach this?

Does the addition of “(level) II” make a difference to anybody? I am the only marketing communications specialist for a lead child-welfare nonprofit. We oversee four counties in two circuits. Director recently gave me add’l merit-based raise (after my annual raise, been here 14 months) & slight title change to Marketing Comm Specialist II. No plans to add a level 1 (would be lower) specialist but will add level 1 engagement specialist to team. Should I update resume/cards or is this confusing?

If i submitted both bgv and prejoining formalities, i should join only Cognizant??? If i didn't join they will blacklist me?

For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA

What pain points are folks experiencing in the digital media space? Most of what I am hearing is related to audience targeting (privacy issues) and conversion measurement (specifically attributing advertising to brick-and-mortar bottom line). Curious if “the bowl” has any thing else that comes to mind?

15 YOE, recently started my first tech PR job at a large, stable company & have been asked to get ~20 SMEs in front of media. Subject matter is not sexy. I lead PR for all of U.S. & have no other PR colleagues. My agency’s budget is 100k/year & they’re spread too thin to hit their KPIs. I feel set up to fail & feel we should be focusing on a handful of SMEs and only our sexiest topics. Any advice on mitigating unrealistic expectations for coverage? Hello all, for those working in an agency. I wanted to see what your typical client workload is? I’ve been in my role for about a year but the workload has changed dramatically without hiring help.

Can you please share:
- the number of accounts you manage
- how many support staff you have on those accounts
- how many active pitches you send per month for those clients on average

Thanks all!
