I am open for a new role in the San Antonio, Texas area. I spent 18 years with the federal government as a GS 13 focused on process improvement and project management 

I’m in need of some inspiration and ideas when it comes to other potential job options or a back up plan. I have 3 years of experience and I’m in a stable role, but I lack insight into job options outside of the advertising realm. What roles have you heard of, or what would you want to do if you were to leave the industry, and do something completely different? I just want to be prepared for when the real burnout inevitably hits.

@ BCGers & Bainies - Making a comparison between BCG and Bain offers. Need to verify one quote I got from recruiter - "at Sr Manager level, profit sharing comes into picture as additional compensation over and abovr Fixed and Cash Bonus, at roughly 30% of Fixed". This seems to be pitched as added advantage over BCG comp as a PL. Skeptical about the claim as I assumee overall comp at any level in same geography will be similar across MBB. Is there any nuance to this?

Am I an idiot if I choose a job abroad in the Netherlands over a job at home in the US that’s much higher paying? On one hand it’s been my dream to work abroad and I finally found the right company abroad that’ll help my career, but the US option is appealing bc of the money. Is it a wise career decision to go from a national firm to a local but strong firm? Practiced with the national firm for a year and a half. The firms are the same type of law, but the smaller firm has less billable requirements and is offering higher salary/better bonus structure as well as more independence such as ability to completely run own case load.

I have this question always in mind.Big product based companies are asking DS problems. But I am not sure when/where they are implementing those problems(tree,graphs) in real time projects. Anyway the developer will be working in API, service logics,UI or POC kind of things right. Honestly speaking my mind :
I was never passionate about tech stuff, but ended up being engineer in IT and now have almost 10 years of exp in same company i never tried to switch, now I think I should do switch and now when I looked back then what I have in my resume don't reflect me cause never intrested so never learnt anything seriously. Now I have clear mindset that I have to do this but hope so it's not too late. I have started from scrath not sure when will be i competative enough .

My key skills are LARAVEL(PHP), REACT.JS, NODE.JS and so on for web development
