Same situation here. I reckon cl6>5 promo will result in about £130k
I think CL5 cap goes pretty high, around £180k. It’s a decent option if you want to stick with the security of where you’re at and not hit a ceiling any time soon. I’m being advised to use it as a stepping stone to CL4 if I want a pay rise any time soon (I’m at least 3 years off MD I reckon)
Is this your not so subtle way of bragging? You’ll see your new salary when it comes if it comes to that. It’s not like you can influence HR to change it either. These posts of what ifs are so tiresome and add no value, including to yourself . Accenture is a breeding ground for anxious workaholics .
Op don't worry. A4 clearly is going through some issues in their life.
As others have said, it is probably a flat 13% in this period. How long have you been here? Your base of £123k isn't bad for someone who was promoted into level. New experienced hires into SM are closer to £130k but they come with probation periods, lack of network, fire at will, etc. into an extremely competitive environment at a level that is extremely hard to win at.
If you took L5 and got a low pay rise, market adjustments can and do happen, but they do try and keep parity between peers. You're about 10k ahead of me but I am not an experienced hire. I would probably get dragged up to your level and you would get a larger bonus. So my point is take the L5 if offered, accept the mediocre rise, but then trust it'll get sorted.
Or, quit. But your observation on other roles is correct, at this level most of the opportunities will be 30/70 (30% base, 70% variable). That is the redpill we need to take, or suffer the "low" pay relative to our time at level.
I find ACN often relies on paying you in opportunity and flexibility at this point in your career. Then you need to bluepill for CL4 or redpill for external. You could probably "coast"* as an SM for 10+ years; so you may as well be an AD.
*for anyone who isn't an experienced SM, coast in this context doesn't mean chilling out. It just means we have the muscle memory and ability to identify what to push hard on vs. give-up on quicker and faster than other levels.
Red pill - go external and work ~120-140% of what you do now. Potentially double earnings but cope with lower base and much more significant variable pay.
Blue pill - stick it out through L5, and eventually L4. Consistent base pay, a bit boring, potentially paid less than the market would pay you, but you're in the process and time will look after you.
