So, I started working full-time at a retail store for clothing and accessories and after a brief dispute with my supervisor (my bike broke down which made me come in 20 minutes late to y shift) they told me that it seems like working is not my priority, so to make it easier on me I would only get 20 hours a week. Things are tight as it is, I can't start working half-time. Please someone share some advice or any job opportunities you've seen out there

your supervisor sounds like a prick imo def look into switching jobs so you can work under someone who's not that rude

My advice is that you run as far away from that place and never look back, if this is how your supervisor responds to such a small inconvenience I can't imagine what's in store for you

I would suggest talking to your supervisor about the situation and see if there is any way that they can work with you. Maybe you can come in earlier or later in the day so that you can still work the same number of hours.

Have you tried looking for other part-time jobs in the meantime? You could also look into online job opportunities. There are a lot of them out there and they can be a great way to make some extra money.

That sounds incredibly petty, best of luck finding a better job out there

I'm sorry to hear that you had a dispute with your supervisor, and they reduced your hours. I would recommend that you look for another job, any place that treats you that way is not a place worth working at.

I currently work at a senior level in product management, I have around 4 years of experience in the field. I'm severely underpaid and feel quite undervalued by the company. I've also been supporting my wife who's been doing her Masters for the past 2.5 years, and being in NYC my savings are absolutely minimal. My PERM is processing so I can't even make a move for another 6-8 months and I'm scared of doing so in light of thr current job market. I'm struggling to deal with my situation. Help?

Hey everyone! New to the platform. I’m in house counsel at an aerospace/AI company in CA & looking for some comprehensive, practical commercial contracts training. I’ve found a couple of useful books, but wondering if anyone in a similar position knows of any online or in person courses worthwhile. I’m one year out of law school, and a challenge of in house for me so far has been the lack of sustained and focused training in certain areas, though I know there’s no substitute for hands-on work.

This may be a dumb question ... but if I take a job on the client side ... will there be any samples/best practices to leverage as I build decks/create deliverables? How do you gain industry insights once on the client side? Dare I say ... you don’t!?

Sales assistant at a drug/grocery store. The manager thinks my coworker does great work but I've seen her putting out new products without rotating stock (so the oldest food will be sold first) and we are always supposed to check the dates when shelving new things. The problem is, I don't really get along with this coworker and I think it's noticeable to management. If I bring this up with our supervisor, are people going to think that I'm just trying to sabotage my coworker so that I will look better than her?

I have a boss from hell. She’s the GM of my hotel and she is a mean girl that never grew out of highschool. She loves gossip. She will trash talk her employees with other employees and once her toxic garbage starts to leak amongst us peons she will send a group text telling us all to stop spreading rumors and to stop being bullies like she isn’t the mean kid with a magnifying glass torturing ants for no reason. I want to stand up but I’ve seen her retaliate on people who have tried to. Help.

Hi all, I’ve been pondering this question in my mind for awhile and haven’t found any solid answers. How much is the average wage for a Prep Cook & Dishwasher? If it matters, I’m in Virginia. I’m in the process of learning to be a Line Cook so that should give me more courage to ask for a raise. I’m currently at $14/h, and with reduced hours, inflation isn’t helping me. Any insights will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
