Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Hello! Anyone work at GE Healthcare?
My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.

Depends on the project you're on
what the heck is work life balance
It depends
This is the right answer. Consulting can mean very different things. You can work 40h a week in implementation and chill, you can work 70h a week in up or out MBB. Very different lifestyles, very different compensation
Depends on the project and the team. Also depends on your level. I have been at Deloitte for one year as a consultant. I work an average of 35- 40 hrs a week.
Lol D1 this is the way. If you’re efficient and know how to work smart it’s often not as bad as people make it out to be. Often long hours are due to lack of planning and/or poor management on your own/your team’s part.

Think super luxury cruise ship . And You are the crew
I don’t know what that is
Basically non existent.. people lack boundaries despite how hard you try to set them, and everything is “urgent”

Well you work while you’re alive. That’s about it.
Balance is work has the 100-lb weight and life has the 5-pound weight on the scale.
Pretty good here and I’m in B4. I work like 20 hours a week

I barely work 3. #benchedlife
When I’ve had projects it’s usually 46-55 hours/week. On the weekends I’ve done 1-3 hours here and there for trainings, reviews, and one time for the actual project. Not ideal for me. My projects have been around 3 months each, so a pretty quick turnaround for data heavy deliverables (where we tend to scramble near the end).
I am new to the big 4 (10 months in), so I’m trying to set boundaries for the next engagement (ending at 6 pm, doing some daily planning on what actually has to get done, and planning for the week Sunday night).
There is this sense of urgency that an ask needs to get done the same day (which was not the case during my past non-big 4 consulting job). That makes it harder to plan, but that’s where the push back would happen on when it actually needs to be completed.
With no project (on the bench) it is 40 hours or less.
In a non big-4 government consulting job I usually worked 40 hours or less and got everything done.
