Happy friday y’all

HCL Technologies offer being delayed and recruiter keeps saying that there's a problem with their "Offer release portal system." I have already stated my issues with relocating until after I have the offer signed and ready. The project is supposed to start on the 19th and I'm supposed to join before, or on that date. It's already coming up soon and I don't have the official offer so that I can confidently start the relocation process. Has anyone else recently dealt with this?

Following. I am 80% disabled and stopped paying for my company healthcare but not sure if that was the right call.
I am just partially disabled and I use the VA for all of my care. At least Walter Reed (DC) is a fantastic facility and I have no complaints. I still take my employer's coverage as a backup (super cheap), which I have never used. But if I were to get cancer or some advanced condition I didn't trust the VA for my care, I could fall back on it. Since you are totally disabled, I believe your family should qualify for Tricare or CHAMPVA, which would far superior to anything your employer could offer. There are probably some veteran resources that should be able to pump you will all the information you need if you reach out.
100% disabled. I use Tricare select and love it, but I am a retiree and not sure if that’s an option for others.
I am 90% disabled but use the company health insurance for 2 reasons:
1. The va provided insurance only covers your disabling conditions. If you need a dr for anything else, the va won't cover
2. Va insurance covers you only. Company insurance covers your family too. I have a husband and 4 kids.
Interesting.
I think 100 T&P (total & perm) allows for dependents. I have a spouse and child and I think they would be covered for everything but I am not sure. Have Aetna Open currently, and it is great, but to the tune of $500 per paycheck.
I am going to research if they’d be covered or if VA would act as a 2nd payer (covering copays?) or something.
Certainly dont want to sacrifice quality of care to save a couple dollars but also think there may be some benefits hidden here.
You could also look into the high deductible plan... i only pay $100 per paycheck for a family of 6. We use the hsa to lower our tax liability and it covers the $5k family deductible. My son is diabetic, so we meet our deductible by February or March each year for insulin, and everything else is covered for the rest of the year
My suggestion is to always keep the private insurance - I think someone mentioned it but the VA will only immediately cover medical visits related to your disabilities, anything else and you may be back in the bureaucracy of filing paper work and claims. I personally feel more protected with the private Health Insurance- and honestly it reduced my tax liability as well.
Good question. I did not opt for EY’s health insurance when I joined the firm 3yrs ago. I’m content with Tricare with great options in the network (I’m in Los Angeles). I retired early during the drawdown so I have that Tricare package. I only started using the VA last year and fortunately the West LA VA Hospital has decent care... well at least for what I need. I wished I started using the VA earlier and could’ve taken advantage of “free” chiropractic and acupuncture treatments a lot sooner.
