What was the process you went through when leaving your organization? Leaving a fin firm for consulting and this will be my first career switch. Should I talk to my manager first? HR rep first? 401k discussion? Reminding vacation days? Any discussion on this topic would be much appreciated. Also Already signed my new offer too

Manager first, who would then tell HR, who would then send you off boarding instructions including 401K and vacation days etc

As VP 1 noted, try to head out on a high note. Some of the best advice my mother gave me growing up was "Always leave people sorry to see you go, and happy to see you come back." I've found that bit of wisdom to be as helpful in my personal life as it is in my professional life. The world is much smaller than folks realize and you never know when you're going to cross paths with someone again, so better to leave them with positive (or at minimum neutral) thoughts of you.

Have the math on the vacation figured out if it is not tracked in a central system so your boss can get that number accurate and get you paid out properly

Has anyone dealt with submitting domestic adoption costs for reimbursement? Do we just email them our receipts as the expense has occurred. Is there forms to fill out as well? I just started the process and made my first payment and want to know how to submit.

A senior manager sent me a text today to ask if I had sent an email last week, and if not, they would send it right now. I am on PTO today. Am I wrong to feel that was not appropriate? Why couldn’t that have waited. Is it not an acceptable boundary to expect to be left alone when on PTO? How do I properly communicate that to a level above without it coming across badly?

Any advice for negotiating modifications to full-time offers? Ex: firm offers unlimited PTO, but rival shop offers 4 weeks guaranteed. What about signing bonuses?
