What were the red flags you noticed in yourself or colleagues that signaled sales might not be their calling? And on the flip side, are there any early struggles that you think are normal and just part of the learning curve, rather than a sign to get out? Because I do wonder if it is a constant feeling of dread before picking up the phone, or maybe a struggle to bounce back from rejection. Any advice for someone still figuring out if this new path is the right long-term fit would be hugely appreciated!

Dread’s normal at first. Rejection’s brutal until you build some calluses. Just so you know, for the first years it was still very comfortable, until I learn to teach and advise others rather than wanting to convince someone. What worried me more in others was when they stopped caring about learning or blamed everything on the leads. Sales is hard, but if you’re curious and coachable, that’s a sign to stay in the fight. Give it 6 months of real effort. Then check in again.

If rejection consistently drains your energy rather than motivates you to improve. Also, if you don’t enjoy the hustle of building relationships or feel overwhelmed by the pressure of hitting targets, that’s a red flag. But early struggles are totally normal...persistence and a positive mindset go a long way. Give yourself some time to adjust before making any big decisions!

When I dreaded every call and took every “no” personally, I started questioning the fit. But I also learned that early rejection fatigue is common. The key difference for me was between discomfort and constant dread - some discomfort fades with confidence, but constant dread doesn’t. Trust your gut over time.

Anybody else noticed recruiters are only proactively reaching out about hybrid/on-site roles nowadays?

It's almost as if people don't want to be in offices anymore so that's why it's difficult for them to fill those roles.
Sidenote: recruiters, you can see on my LI profile that I'm remote. In the "What jobs are you interested in" field you can see I'm only interested in remote roles.
