Depends on your store volume. The store I worked at would be busy somewhat on the morning and slower later on. Only really busy on weekends unfortunately
Honestly I would say it depends on both the person and the store volume, since there are work places that have no change in store volume through out the year.
My point is this:
-If you just want to get your work day over with, morning shift is best so you can hang out before bed.
-If your a person who has a preference in sleeping half the day away, then you go closing shift.
-If your a night owl with a job with an Overnight position, you take the overnight, allowing you to still hang out with friends and still sleep during the day.
-if you're someone who just like to stay active and has no problem with 4 to 6 of sleep or just trying to make a basic living in desperation, then you'd do both in two separate jobs
All in all, you do what you feel is perfect for you
I prefer opening shift. Everything is a little slower and I like that I get off work at a reasonable hour. Closing feels like a lot more work.
For me, opening shifts are better. People are coming in with a purpose, and things just tend to run more smoothly. As we get near closing time people tend to just be browsing and wandering and it somehow always winds up being more chaotic. Plus, I don't like having to get home late.
I wouldn’t hate the closing shifts if people did what they were supposed to do and customers would just leave when we close. So I will take the opening shift as a better shift even though I don’t really see myself as a morning person.
