What's one thing college didn't prepare you for in your teaching career? I wish I had a heads-up on how gross and sticky 5th graders are. It kills me that a generation of kids who grew up during the pandemic didn't learn about the importance of washing their hands. I swear, I have to remind these kids to wash their hands after using the bathroom daily, and why do I have to tell 10 and 11-year-olds not to put random objects in their mouths?

No offense, but I thought it was understood that children are universally gross. Think how we were at that age. Kids just aren't concerned with that sort of thing.

To answer your question, though, a much bigger issue to me is school district politics. Between the administrators and the actual politicians on the school board, everybody has an agenda. Not an educational agenda, but a personal one. This certainly doesn't apply to all, but far too many of them are more interested in asserting their power than teaching kids. Even one or two like that can ruin the work environment. Navigating the pettiness is a skill that most of us learn on the job.

I was a 10-year-old boy once, albeit several centuries ago. I can promise you, we were horrible. The good news is it built up my immune system.

Man they love to eat stuff off the floor, put anything they see in their mouth, play with boogers, I've had some eat the gum from under desks, eat their boogers, eat paper, eat glue... BLUGH!!! 🤮

How much some parents just don’t care. We have parent/teacher conferences and I’ve sat there for two hours without a single parent turning up. It’s disheartening not only for me but to think they care so little about their kids education. And fifth graders are germ factories, only beat out by 3 year olds lol. I taught preschool for a bit and it was like the scene in Kindergarten Cop where Arnold’s eyes bug out of his head

Husband and I are planning to rent a car (we wipe the entire inside and handles down with bleach wipes) and drive to a state over (only 5 hours, no pit stops) to pod up with my parents for a month or two. We will be wearing masks and social distancing with my parents until everyone is tested and confirmed negative. My husband goes to the grocery store once a week, other than that we do not interact with others and have taken the pandemic very seriously. Is this a bad idea? Second guessing myself

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

Been with my boyfriend for 4 years. His family is much more wealthier than mine (6 cars, owns 4 houses, part of 3 businesses). My family is middle class and I feel inadequate around his family because they’re so wealthy. I feel depressed because I can’t live his lifestyle and sad for our future. His family just bought a house for us and my family can’t even buy a second car. Idk how to go about this situation.

Recently, the CEO and my boss, the VP gave me the latitude to promote myself and "write my own" job description. I've been the Marketing Manager of this company for about 7 months. Already received 1 raise.

Much of the work in my "new" job description, I've already been doing. My currently salary is $70K. New title is Director of Communications and Systems Integration. What is a reasonable salary increase here.

I have about 7 years experience in this area.
