I hate to say it but it is a complete mistake to move to Canada without having secured a job first. The low wages, lack of jobs, and extreme taxes will inevitably lead to an empty bank account and a crushed soul. Expect to work at fast food restaurants for the foreseeable future. My recommendation would be to move back to the states ASAP!
Don’t let my mistake be yours. Do NOT come here unless you’re independently wealthy and enjoy giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to a government whose primary objective is to take your money, crush your spirit, and keep you poor. I’ve spoken to other immigrants here and they feel the same way. They are fleeing and going back home.
It’s going to be difficult, try to secure a job first
To be honest, I have attended several interviews, taking interviews and have been in the journey for a while. The whole Canadian experience is not a mandate. I would say look for all the openings in your field on job sites and find you and tailor make your résumé and submit. Economy is back, but the hiding is still ongoing.
It’s more like survival of the fit
People make more money is a business doing this than in salaries
We are in very similar positions. I migrated to Canada from Africa with 6 years of marketing experience and my education was from the UK. I am currently working as a digital marketing specialist earning 75K annually. I believe this is also prorated Alberta where I am located, and will suggest that you negotiate higher for Toronto
I have been looking all year for work in Canda part time/full time the job market is really rough. I'd recommend staying where you are.
