What's the norm on gifts for destination weddings now? If everyone is flying from the US to Europe are typical gifts still expected?

I am having a destination wedding in Spain. Gifts are NOT expected. If guests offer, we’ll accept.

like

Small gathering. We expect to have between 50-60 guests

like

Yes I am expecting a gift for my wedding. Travel cost for our guests to our destination wedding is about the same as domestic since the resort block is a cheap all inclusive place. Our wedding is not at the cheap place bc we want our guests to have a wonderful time. Also I have never stiffed someone on a gift based on travel cost domestically or internationally. It is my choice to spend the money and go and they deserve a gift.

like

^ agreed. Most domestic weddings I’ve gone to cost at least $400 in flights, plus hotel. Wouldn’t even think of showing up without a gift.

No they are not expected. Bring a card at a minimum though, those are always appreciated.

Not expected at all, but appreciated

Hello people of San Diego! Would love to hear how y’all are affording to live here comfortably. Please state your company, position, TC, YOE, and do you have a side hustle? I’ll start - I’m an advisor in Wealth Management with TC of $70k, 3 YOE and no side hustle. Among other things, rent just jumped from $2500 to $3700 for 2 bedroom and areas were looking at. I’d like to “make it” here but if it means switching career to make money I’d like to get an idea to make the right job change.

I am working on a project to built OKR and KPI software for performance prediction. The tool that helps companies track KPIs and predicts business performance using these KPIs. I am interested in is knowing, a) if companies track KPIs and how do they do it b) (to be continued in comment)

Are you paying for bridesmaid hair and make-up? Was a little sticker shocked $200 per person before gratuity, just adds up quickly with that many people😬 Not requiring it but wanted to offer it if they want to be more glammed up, but now seeing online that’s it’s considered quite rude to not cover it for them? Maybe just cover one and they can do the other if they want? Don’t want to be rude if it’s expected but also don’t want to blow our budget… any perspective on the “norm” appreciated!

Help- my SIL showed me two dresses she rented for my shower, and I think they are super bridal/not very appropriate to wear as a guest or bridesmaid. I have asked others and they agree. I feel like my own outfit, a simple jumpsuit, pales in comparison to how over the top these dresses are. What can I say or do? I feel really down but also don’t want to start WW3 by saying something to her. I feel like I now need to rush to buy a new outfit.

Getting married in September, have a vax only policy for guests. My fiancé’s sister is bringing her unvaccinated spouse to the hotel where all the wedding festivities are being held b/c she is too scared to fly on an airplane without him. I find this incredibly uncomfortable and selfish given it will put me and my fiancé in an uncomfortable position (and it will also put my elderly parents and other vulnerable fam members at risk). Any ideas as to what (if anything) to do?
