What’s the right way to handle being asked to take on higher-level responsibilities before a promotion is approved? Over the past few months my scope has expanded to include work clearly above my level, but title and pay haven’t changed yet. Leadership says promotion timing is unclear. How have others responded in this situation?

I would look at how promotions are usually handled. If it’s a track record of rare internal promotions, I’d probably be hesitant to take on the extra work. Only take it if you can use it. Either a better outside job prospect or moving up.

I offload tasks whenever I get new ones
If you want me to do more senior work I’m dropping some of the lower level stuff

What's your worse experience working in customer support?

Here's mine: I was working in the call center and I was explaining to a customer that he had used up all his credit and that's why he couldn't surf the Internet on his phone. He started to insult me for 8 minutes and, due to company policies, I could not hang up until he had finished.

By flexible I mean in terms of moving between positions, companies and technologies.

I've done both and am currently doing salesforce development but don't want to get pigeonholed.

I'm a SWE from Italy. Love my country but salary and taxes here are outrageous. Got 2yrs experience in fullstack and data science, 2masters, a peer reviewed paper and outperform all my peers for 24k€ a year.
I'm thinkin about landing a remote SWE job (leetcoding and building a portfolio this summer).
Have you got some advice? Is it possible to work for US remotely without visa? What other countries pay well? Is it possible to land a 100k$+ with this kind of experience and working from Italy?

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?

It is elementary that the development of a theory is based on completed and finished works or theories with a sufficient basis to be possible. But what were guys like Plato based on? He could only rely on what his mind told him. It must have been very difficult but at the same time, they were very brave in defending their ideas.

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
