Free pancakes from IHOP on veterans day
Good one! 🥞
Being somewhat proud of myself for offering my service when the time came.
Having met and served with and still friends with some truly amazing individuals and genuine heroes.
That’s probably it to be honest. Everything else is either neutral or bad. I never really appreciated how much doing 10 years would set me back from a career perspective.
I hear you! I feel that way in some aspects due to staying home with my kids for several years. But I have faith in you! Two years will fly by ⭐️🌟 keep pushing!!
Starting sentences with “As a veteran I…” 🤮🤮🤮
Haha hey man, I was a loggie… the struggle is real.
For the emotional stuff: I think I would’ve regretted it my whole life if I didn’t serve. A lot of my family members were in for various amounts of time, and I’m happy I did my part. I did 5 years active, went overseas for a couple of deployments, and think I made a difference to some people. Plus I made a lot of great friends.
For the financial stuff: I have a masters degree now with no student debt. I have a mortgage with a ridiculously low interest rate thanks to the VA home loan, and a lot of companies offer discounts for veterans either all year round or for Veterans Day. This all amounts to saving hundreds of thousands od dollars over my lifetime. Not too bad.
Thank you for your service. And yes I agree, you definitely do have some wonderful perks, as you should.
One free app at Applebee's! 🤤
Yum! I love those wonton tacos on the appetizer menu. So good!
OP What's your favorite part? Mine is always knowing it can suck more lol
How was working phones at the IRS hard? Not once has anyone ever picked up the phone when I’ve called. If you don’t get auto-hung up on, you get put into phone hell where you wind up waiting for 2-3 hours then it auto hangs up.
PTSD but the 100% disability and free college is all worth it.
what are the ongoing symptoms for you?
Getting college paid can change your life trajectory.
I’ll echo what others mentioned, there’s comfort in knowing whatever situation you’re in can always suck more.
Absolutely!! I think that is a very healthy mindset for this world.
Are you in the creator program lol
Well that is pretty rude. I get a lot of satisfaction and really don’t need your disrespect. Feel free to ignore my posts. Geez!
Top secret clearance (I’m still in though)
No I meant I’m still in the military lol. Went from active duty army to air force reserves
Disability pay 🤣
For sure! Because s*it happens!
It's an excuse to be salty
Haha… no excuses needed!
Having my service experience on my resume has open a lot of doors for me. And if they were already open because of some other merit, once they find out somehow it still comes into play.
I believe in merit and that it should trump all the cooperate check box but I know my service is bigger than me and it’s brotherhood that I’m happy to be part of. 🫡
Absolutely! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Being proud of all the innocent folks we killed so Raytheon and Boeing could hit their earnings projections and give their execs nice fat bonuses 🫡
C3 - my company put in work in Afghanistan, only to find out towards the end of the deployment that almost everyone we killed had been coerced by the Taliban. They'd show up at their house, give them an IED and tell them where to put it. When they'd say no, the Talibs would round up their family and kill them one by one until they did it.
We followed the LOAC to the letter, but that doesn't make me feel any better about the widows and fatherless children we left behind.
What’s up with all of these posts from VA in this bowl?
i thought he meant why all the disability responses
Tinnitus and endless back pain, the gift that keeps on giving
Ugh. No bueno :(
Telling people you’re welcome for my service

Early financial independence, liked having education and house down payment taken care of without going to family for help.
When younger, also appreciated a proper intro to firearms as I see shady stuff at the range, and had a close call with a negligent discharge when shooting with a civilian coworker. Most civvies are like handling cars with no instruction.
Absolutely game changers in terms of financial independence with so many benefits. And proper firearms training is also extremely beneficial on many levels. With society the way it is… it’s nice peace of mind to know you can handle yourself and protect.
Answering "that question" and seeing 23 year olds' eyes widen when they realise that maybe aligning their PowerPoint slides doesn't really matter that much.
The benefit I use the most now is the veterans discount for the epic pass. Family probably saves $1k per year.
But really, I was a sh-t head when I was 18 and I am forever grateful to the ncos that beat some sense into me. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
MGIB was big and having an honorable discharge of my CV helped me standout from other science phds. I felt like it always got me the opportunity to interview
