The relative value of the janitor compared to the company president is in direct proportion to the size of the leak. Everything's relative. I believe this company's salary schedule is competitive in the market. By definition, employees are "fairly compensated." Should they be paid more? Of course.
They don't pay their present employees that have been there for years as much as newer employees. A new employee will get paid more than someone that's been there for 5 years or 10.
I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with my compensation. That being said, there's always room for improvement. I think it's natural to wonder whether you're being fairly compensated for the work you do, especially when you see reports about pay disparities or hear about friends in similar roles making more elsewhere.
