When applying for an internal (but much higher) role is it appropriate to cite your existing work at the org? I am applying for my boss’s old role and I either wrote or provided substantial input for nearly all of of our security policies. Can I just outright state that in my cover letter lol.
Also yes they do care about cover letters on top of resumes, as I’ve learned through working on the other end of the process reviewing candidates

Yes, nothing to lose. Cover letter is an opportunity to sell yourself. It is not off limits to talk about your experiences, major contributions, and value. You bring an ability to hit the ground running that no external candidates bring (both knowledge and relationships). Don’t forget to bring that to the interview either. Good luck!

Cite your existing work - you don't know who will read your interview internally

What are questions to ask in an interview with a startup? I work at a medium sized company that brings in ~$70m in revenue with decent health benefits and 401k. I’ll be interviewing with a startup that’s under 50ppl and from what I could find online makes ~$4m in revenue and received a second round of funding (but is in debt). What are smart questions to make sure the company would be a good fit and for me to know what risks I could face joining a startup?

Hi folks need your suggestion here it would help me i guess . I have been working as manual tester for 3.5 years. I tried learning coding and felt difficult so gave up on that. Right now i feel i should switch to a customer facing role because i think it's a good fit for me and also it seems quite interesting and engaging. Have on offer in hand with a better company for the role customer support specialist L3 . Should I take up this offer ? Or i can stay in Manual Testing my whole life ?

What’s your take on working along side a team in marketing but barely any of your team enjoy the social present, let alone having actual social accounts. I’m totally respect people who want to keep their personal life private, but not knowing what the hell is trending while holding a role that deal with social media contracts everyday and giving others opinions, that’s what I’ll have problem with. Thoughts?

Hi all -
Sorry for the long rant, but could use advice or just encouragement.

Got laid off for the first time in my career 3 weeks ago. I have 10 years of PM experience (mostly ecommerce & experimentation). I was fortunate in the past to have had recruiters scout me directly so this is the first time in over a decade that I am applying to everything that I’m qualified for, mostly qualified for, and way over qualified for with zero leads. Only 3 interviews thus far that didn’t go forward.

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

So my fiancé and I are having a microwedding in Rocky Mountain National Park next year, and we’re working with an elopement planner.
She sent over a sample ceremony (intro, sweet poems + passages to be read, and example vows), and we read through it last night. I’m just really happy that I found someone who is willing to take a vow to spend his life with me and I’m so excited for that day :)
