Which agencies are going through layoffs
Is it okay to call a sick day as freelancers?
Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

I’ve never had to write a cover letter for a creative job
I look at it as another chance to show off my writing chops. If they don’t read it, no harm done. But if they do, they get to see a little personalized creativity in letter form. I’d never do a standard stuffy one though.
This is what I assumed for applications that require one. Thanks!
Me neither.
I don’t read them unless the level of work is really close, which is rare.
Makes sense to not have to do them, although I’m seeing cover letters as either required or optional on quite a few copywriter applications lately. If it’s optional, is it safe to ignore it?

CD’s might not read them but recruiters may use it as a tool to weed out the candidates.

There are lemons everywhere
Just put some thought and personality into the email that goes with it. It’s worth trying to stand out to the first point of contact depending on who that is (whether it’s a recruiter, a nameless HR rep or a hiring manager).
