I might be slightly off here but i believe our agency gives 18 weeks for those that deliver and the 12 weeks in parental leave for any new parents including adoption. It’s fully paid.
Is it paid maternity leave? If it is considered yourself blessed. In the US it is not required to pay for maternity leave. Also many places don’t even give you 12 weeks. My leave was unpaid, so, I had it go back to work at 7 weeks. The system is totally broken for moms in the US. I hear people in Canada complain and I Amin shock, they get sometimes a full year paid.
I know how hard it is to leave your baby and go back to work.
That is why we as women in the US, must demand paid leave, write to legislators. Another example of the patriarchy at work.
It’s sad that I have to consider myself “blessed” because I was allowed to stay 12 weeks with a newborn and not lose my job. I totally agree that we as woman in US NEEED TO DEMAND better maternity leave. All over the world the standard is at least 6month paid or unpaid but at least you have a job security! We need to stop telling moms who got slightly more time “how lucky” they are. Anything below 6month is sad! We are all robbed as woman in this country of precious time that our babies need… I’m very sad right now, I go back tomorrow..
What about nypfl?
Aren't you at an omnicom company? They have leave outside of nypfl
WPP agency, 18 weeks full pay and another 4 weeks either unpaid or using PTO.
We get 4 months paid and then whatever time you have as PTO. We just had a few moms come back from like 7-8 months of leave. I think dads get like a month or two too.
